Muy esperado el sexto álbum de Bjork que llega finalmente a las tiendas, no hablaré que Timbaland colaboró en la producción de 3 canciones, tampoco la participación de Antony Hegarty, tampoco que esta vez decidió retomar su vena rítmica muy alejada de discos como Vespertine o Medulla (sin contar con Drawing Restraint 9), por el contrario lo que les diré sobre Volta es:

- Pensé que los sonidos africanos/tribales de Earth Intruders sería el trademark del álbum, algo que no fue así. Sin embargo, me impacto que el disco está cargado de muchas trompetas, aspecto que ha llevado en sus presentaciones en vivo realizar arreglos muy curiosos y pomposos, por no querer decir pretensioso, a la final sale muy bien parada en este experimento. (por ejemplo en su reciente concierto transmitido el sábado pasado en la NPR)

- A pesar de tener un sonido particular el resultado es una combinación de Vespertine, Homogenic y Post… que a medida que avanza el disco siento que le falta coherencia alguna.

- A la segunda mitad del disco empiezo como a perderle el gusto o la disposición de seguir escucharlo… pero la primera parte salva completamente el álbum.

- Dull Flame of Desire se pelea junto con Pagan Poetry en ser la canción que más me agrada de ella de toda su discografía…. El punto en desventaja que tiene es que considero sólo podrá ser cantada junto con Antony para ser apreciada como debe ser.

- Declare Independence viene a ser Pluto v 2.0

- No creo que sea el álbum más comercial pero si el más accesible desde Vespertine, pero no mejor que este.

- Quiero un action figure de la portada del álbum.

- Björk lo volvió hacer y a pesar de los contra, rápidamente le he agarrado gusto al disco.

The highly expected sixth album of Bjork is finally out, for that reason this won’t be an usual review, I won’t talk about Timbaland’s collaboration on 3 songs, I won’t talk about Antony Hegarty’s participation and I won’t say that this time Bjork decided to be more rhythmic, far from Vespertine and Medulla (or maybe Drawing Restraint 9)…But, I will say about Volta is:

- I thought the African sounds from Earth Intruders were the trademark of this album… I was wrong. Nonetheless, this work has a lot of brass instruments, for that reason Bjork has incorporated new arrengements in the songs in her current live performance that at the end it became in a nice experience to listen (for example her last performance transmitted on NPR)

- Even though Volta has its particular sound, the result is a combination of Vespertine, Homogenic and Post…. but in my opinion, it lacks of coherence.

- Even though the first songs are great hits/singles, the second part of the album is really forgetabble.

- Dull Flame of Desire is my new best song of Björk (fighting with Pagan Poetry), the weak point is that I think this song should be sang ONLY with Antony to be really appreciated.

- Declare Independence is Pluto version 2.0

- I don’t think this would be her most commercial album, but it would be more accessible since Vespertine album.

- I want an action-figure of the album cover.

- Björk did it again; I enjoyed Volta very very fast.

- Rating: 7/10

Luego de escuchar Volta, sólo me queda hacer referencia a “Dull Flame Of Desire”. La colaboración que hace Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons) y la “conversación” que se mantiene con Björk a lo largo de la canción, la hace simplemente perfecta. Las letras fueron tomadas de un poema ruso del siglo XIX el cual repiten constantemente que acompañadas de la musicalización con trompetas y la batería al final (para dar paso a Innocence) hacen de esta pieza una de las mejores y más delicadas canciones en la actualidad. (tanto que ni me doy cuenta que en realidad dura 7:30 minutos)

Lo único que hay en youtube es esta presentación en vivo que coloco al final del post, traten de escuchar la versión en estudio.

After listening Volta, I just have to make a reference about “Dull Flame Of Desire”. The collaboration that Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons) does and the “conversation” with Bjork all along the song is just perfect. The lyrics they repeat constantly, were taken from a XIX Century Russian poem and the music with brasses and the final drum beats transformed this song in one of the best and beautiful tracks nowadays. (and it’s 7:30 minutes)

This is the only performance of the song I found on youtube (not a perfect quality though), you should listen the studio version of it.

Ya está en internet el nuevo single de Bjork “Earth Intruders”… no se si es un leak, pero parece ser que está sonando en las radios.

Primera Impresión: me gustó, es una mezcla del “I Miss You” y “Human Behaviour”, nada de la era Medulla o Vespertine.

No está en OiNK al momento.
