Si bien hay mucha especulación, la historia detrás esta canción es que fue escrita por Joey Ramone para el disco Pleasant Dreams (1981) a raíz que Johnny le robó su novia Linda (ahora, viuda de Johnny), a partir de este momento, y a pesar que continuaron juntos como banda, las relaciones entre los 2 integrantes fueron prácticamente nulas incluso en los momentos finales de Joey contra el cáncer.

Lo del KKK es una referencia hacia la inclinación política de Jhonny (siendo ambos totalmente contrarios, Jhonny ultra republicano, Joey de la izquierda liberal)
