Recently Smashing Pumpkins played on a new edition of AOL Music Sessions and Culture Bully has mp3 of that performance.
Among the songs they performed, Superchrist is the special one. For whatever reason it didn’t reach the final tracklist in Zeitgeist, and even though this song is a very good one, probably it would never be on an album.
Anyway, according to Corgan in Spinner:
“Everybody seems to love the song so that would be, ‘OK, that’s definitely going to be on the next album.’ But it may never come out. The AOL Session may end up being the only version that’s ever recorded properly.”

Recientemente Smashing Pumpkins participaron en una nueva edición de los AOL Music Sessions y Culture Bully tiene los mp3s de esa presentación.
Entre las canciones que tocaron, Superchrist es la especial. Por el motivo que fuese, la canción no entró en Zeitgeist y a pesar que es una de las preferidas en los conciertos posiblemente jamás haga su debut en un álbum por lo que esta presentación es la única versión “oficial” de la canción.
Según entrevista de Corgan en Spinner:
“Parece ser que todos gustan de la canción por lo que “definitivamente irá en el próximo álbum”. Pero eso nunca sucederá. La versión del AOL Session vendrá siendo la única que ha sido grabada apropiadamente.”

Gossamer is now one of the favorites new songs from Smashing Pumpkins; it’s not on Zeitgeist, in fact there’s not a studio version of it.
Right now is being played on tour and it became the longest song played by the band with 20-30 minutes of duration.
Probably it will be a B-side in an upcoming single release. We hope that.
Now the question is: United States or Gossamer.

Gossamer es ahora una de las canciones favoritas hecha por The Smashing Pumpkins, no está en Zeitgeist, de hecho no existe versión en estudio de la misma.

The Velvet Underground’s classic song written by Lou Reed: Venus in Furs, according to wikipedia, this song was inspired by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s book of the same name, which refers to sado-masochism, fetishes and bondage.
In fact, the term masochism is derived from this novelist; his book “Venus in Furs” is one of his famous novels.

Considering:
- I’m a hard-die SP fan
- SP will never make an album superior to Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie.
- Anything in the World is better than Machina I and Zwan.
First Impressions:
- Overproduced with a loooot of guitars, which I like.
- I liked the album’s structure, step-by-step is growing the intensity ‘til the song “United States”, and then the tempo is slowing.
- But, the last 2 songs I felt totally lost. 
- Chamberlin really stands out by himself, also I don’t feel the absence of James and D’Arcy, and there’s nothing new about Corgan’s voice
- On a second listen, I had to force myself in order to appreciate the album, right now I’m on my fourth listen… and I’m convinced by it.
- United States is a phenomenal 9 minutes piece, it reminds me of XYU even though it seems that is overestimated.
- (Come On) Let’s Go = Zero v 2.0
- 7 Shades of Black = TEITBITE v 2.0
- Bleeding the Orchid: At first listen it passes under the table, now I KNOW it’s one of the best, it’s so dark.. oh that guitar riffs, that drum.
- That’s The Way: It’s the Zwan-esque song, I’m scared because I think this is the second single of the album.
- Highlights: 7 Shades of Black, Bleeding The Orchid, Tarantula, United States, Bring the Light, (Come On) Let’s Go.
Verdict:
Zeitgeist is a solid return, it’s highly decent, it’s not great but it’s better than EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD had expected from the band, Zeitgeist left me with a good concept of this new Smashing Pumpkins.
Viva the 90’s… now, let’s shop Zero’s t-shirt.

- SP nunca más harán un disco que supere o iguale a Siamese Dream y Mellon Collie.
- Cualquier cosa es mejor que Machina I y Zwan.
Primeras Impresiones:
- Sobreproducido, muy muy muy guitarrero… algo que me gusta.
- Me agradó su estructura, poco a poco va creciendo de intensidad, llegando a su punto máximo en United States para luego ir suavizando el tempo.
- Sin embargo, en las 2 últimas canciones me sentí totalmente perdido.
- Chamberlin realmente se luce, no se nota la ausencia de James Iha ni D’Arcy, y la voz de Corgan, nada que no hayamos escuchado anteriormente.
- En una segunda oída tuve que forzarme para apreciar el disco, ya estoy en la cuarta y me convenció. 
- United States fenomenal pieza de 9 minutos, me recuerda a XYU aunque pareciera que desde ya esté sobreestimada.
- (Come On) Let’s Go = Zero versión 2.0
- 7 Shades of Black = TEITBITE v 2.0
- Bleeding the Orchid: A la primera pasó desapercibida, pero ahora es genial, oscura.
- That’s The Way..: es la más Zwan-esque, me asusta que puede que sea el segundo single del álbum.
- Highlights: 7 Shades of Black, Bleeding The Orchid, Tarantula, United States, Bring the Light, (Come On) Let’s Go.
Veredicto:
Zeitgeist es un sólido regreso, decente, no grandioso pero mejor de lo que TODO EL MUNDO esperaba de la banda, me dejó con un mejor concepto sobre estos nuevos SP.
Vivan los 90’s… a comprar t-shirt de Zero.

If you pre-order Zeitgeist on iTunes, you’ll be able to download Doomsday Clock now.
I’ve already listened…. Mmm, this would be one of the songs to fill the album, it’s not bad but it’s not the greatest thing, at least I’m glad I’m feeling so 90’s with the comeback of the Smashing.
I can’t post it.. but you can have an opinion by looking at their performance in Paris, at the end of the post.

Ya la escuché y esta es una de las canciones de relleno del álbum, no es mala pero no aporta más allá de lo que podría considerarse una canción más de los Smashing, al menos soy feliz de sentirme 90’s con su regreso.

El primer concierto de los Smashing Pumpkins desde el año 2000 fue hoy 22 de Mayo en Paris, recién terminaron de tocar y ya empezaron a salir videos de la presentación en youtube.
A continuación una nueva canción de Zeitgeist llamada “God & Country”, esta vez es una balada, no suena mal pero realmente se podrá apreciar en la versión en estudio, sin embargo no está “tan pésimo” el video tomado directo del concierto.
Sigo teniendo FE.

The first Smashing Pumpkins’ concert since 2000 was today May 22 in Paris. They’ve just finished to play and immediately you can watch at youtube the first video of the performance.
Here’s a new song called “God & Country”, this is a slow one, is not bad, but to really appreciate it we have to wait until a better version or the studio one.
I have FAITH.
