No me cansaré de decirlo Feist es a 2007 lo que Cat Power fue a 2006.
Aquellos que disfrutaron del álbum “Let it Die” seguramente lo tendrán todavía en rotación y no hay que dudarlo Leslie Feist es grande, por algo es catalogada como diosa o heroína de la música indie en cualquiera de sus facetas: como una integrante de Broken Social Scene, colaboradora de Kings Of Convenience, Peaches o en solitario.

Para mi The Reminder viene a catapultarla aun más, por no decir que es la carta de presentación a una mayor audiencia. En este nuevo trabajo, Leslie junto a su banda y amigos colaboradores se trasladaron a una casa alejada en Francia para capturar la esencia minimalista e íntima que ha quedado plasmada en el álbum, para que de esa manera fuese terminado en 2 semanas, con un sonido que refuerza nuevamente su voz como instrumento clave.

Highlights del álbum se encuentran: I Feel It All que viene a convertirse en la nueva Mushaboom, The Park como una de las mejores y tristes canciones grabadas, los singles promocionales My Moon My Man y 1234 que luego de ver los videos las ves de otra manera y Sea Lion Woman (canción versionada por Nina Simone) que es una favorita instantánea con influencias gospel.

Ahora el dilema de todo artista, ¿es The Reminder mejor que Let It Die?. No lo se, cada uno tiene su particularidad, sin embargo siento que en este nuevo no hay diversidad musical como el anterior sino que mantiene una exquisita homogeneidad a lo largo de las canciones del cual no le encuentro punto flojo, o tal vez, porque Leslie ya es una artista de la que uno difícilmente puede negarse a su encanto y talento.

Altamente recomendable y sus presentaciones en vivo aun más porque tiende a darle nuevos arreglos más “rockeros” que difieren de la tranquilidad de sus versiones en estudio.

I said it before; Leslie Feist is to 2007 as Cat Power was to 2006.
Those of you who listened “Let It Die” probably still have it on your current playlist rotation. And that’s the thing with Leslie, she is a goddess of indie music in all her facets: as a member of Broken Social Scene, collaborator of Kings of Convenience, Peaches or working solo.

IMHO The Reminder comes to “catapult” Feist’s career, this is her presentation letter to a wider audience. In this new work, Leslie with her band and collaborators moved to a house in France in order to get the minimalist and intimate essence that was captured on the record. As a result, The Reminder was finished in two weeks, and once again Leslie’s voice is the main instrument on the album.

Highlights: I Feel It All as the new Mushaboom, The Park as one of the best and sadness songs ever made, the promotional singles My Moon My Man and 1234: if you watch those videos you’ll have a different perception on the songs, and finally Sea Lion Woman (traditional song versioned by Nina Simone) that is an instantly favorite with gospel influences.

Now the question: Is The Reminder better than Let It Die?. I don’t know, each one has its “thing”, I have enjoyed both records so much that is difficult to choose one, but I felt that the new one lacks of musical diversity compared to Let It Die. Nonetheless The Reminder keeps an exquisite homogeneity in all the songs that I can’t find a weak aspect…. or maybe because Feist is an artist you can’t deny her talent and charming.

Highly recommended, also you have to watch her live performances because she makes strong musical arrangements different from the album version. This girl knows how to rock.
