Arcade Fire tiene entre sus integrantes varias joyas que brillan por si solas, 2 de ellos (incluyendo aquel con el look a lo Napoleon Dynamite) tienen un proyecto llamado The Bell orchestre, (ya comentado en los comienzos de este blog) y recientemente llegó a mis oídos el trabajo individual de Owen Pallett el cual se hace llamar Final Fantasy (creo que por referencia al juego de video)

He Poos Clouds, segundo trabajo de Owen, tiene bajo su brazo el haber ganado recientemente el equivalente canadiense del Mercury Prize, llamado Polaris Music Prize (por encima de grandes ligas tales como Broken Social Scene, The New Pornographers y unos bien hypeados Wolf Parade)

De que va Final Fantasy… basado en letras inspiradas en toda la onda Calabozos y Dragones, este disco es fumado (no conseguí mejor clasificación), no había escuchado algo así desde mis tiempos en que conocí Sigur Ros.
Desde su comienzo en Artic Circle vamos notando el estilo “clásico” del Cd, el violín es el protagonista principal a lo largo de las canciones junto con el piano y la serena voz de Owen que no pierde tiempo en hacerle guiños a la música de Vivaldi, Beethoven o cualquier otro maestro y por que no a Danny Elfman también (sobre todo al terminar Artic Circle en el que parece que estás escuchando un soundtrack de Tim Burton)

He Poos Clouds, más allá de lo que pueda sugerir el título, es la pieza que describe mejor este álbum, letras bizarras sacadas de alguna historia de esas de juegos de rol, bajo una base en el que la personificación del piano te adentra en un capítulo de Desperate Housewives o en esas promo de National Geographic (sip, donde sale un león persiguiendo a su presa ja!!!)

Sin embargo, para mi la mejor canción del álbum “This Lamb Sells Condos” es que logra llegar al climax, un exquisito piano acompañado de un coro al mejor estilo de Björk en la era Vespertine (It’s not up to you o Pagan Poetry quizás) con una letra que va para los habitantes de Toronto y sus edificios.

Veredicto: En mi humilde opinión, algo nuevo en escena, no para muchos oídos, hasta me costó un pelo digerirlo, puede que algunos les parezca aburrido pero no te dejará indiferente. Si les sirve de algo, al menos te deja esa sensación de uff que intenso soy ja!!!!

Arcade Fire has inside its integrants, great artists that shine by themselves, 2 of them (including the one that looks like Napoleon Dynamite) have a project named The Bell Orchestre (I’ve already commented about that one in the beginnings of the blog). Recently came to my ears the solo-project of Owen Pallett named Final Fantasy (yep, video game reference for sure)

He Poos Clouds, second work of Owen, has under its arms the 2006 Polaris Music Prize (the canadian equivalent of the Mercury Prize (winning above Broken Social Scene, The New Pornographers and the blog-hyped Wolf Parade)

What’s all about Final Fantasy?… Ok, lyrics based on Dungeons & Dragons, this album is…. let’s say special/unique, I haven’t listened something like this since Sigur Ros.
From the first track “Artic Circle” you’re noticing the “classic” style of the CD, the violin is the main player all along the album with the piano and the soft voice of Owen, who winks towards Vivaldi, Beethoven and also Danny Elfman (in fact, at the end of Artic circle, it seems like you’re listening a Tim Burton soundtrack)

He Poos Clouds, whatever the title may suggest, is the track that better describes this album, weird lyrics with the excellent performance of the piano, just like a National Geographic trailer (yep the one with the lion) or a Desperate Housewives episode (in the good sense) (sorry for the lame comparison)

Nonetheless, the best song for me is “This Lamb Sells Condos” because it reaches the climax with the exquisite piano and the choir at the best style of Björk (Vespertine Era. It’s not up to you or Pagan Poetry maybe).

Verdict: IMHO, this is something new and fresh, it’s not for an extensive public, it could be boring for some of you but it won’t let you indifferent.
If this helps you, it will let you the feeling that you’re elitist about music ha ha!!
