As I said in the last post, this week I have in high rotation Sonic Youth’s Dirty album, one of my favorite songs is Nic Fit because it’s fast, efective, violent and you won’t understand it if your first language is not english (that was my case), but still is a great song. Sometimes I forget how much I like Sonic Youth, this week I had in high rotation the Dry album and suddenly (while I was rocking with Nic Fit) I thought that a cover post would be nice. I started to search and I found a lot, but I stopped it because I think this page has a looot of information about Sonic Youth covers. Enjoy it.
A veces se me olvida lo MUCHO que me gusta Sonic Youth, esta semana he tenido en alta rotación el Dry y de repente me dije por qué no hacer un post de covers, haciendo búsquedas encontré una gran gama de versiones que desgloso al final, se que existen muchas más pero no las coloqué porque prefiero que ustedes mismos las vean en esta gran página que encontré de la banda.

A friend of mine told me if I could find her the song Llorando, the one on Mulholland Drive movie… so, when I was searching I realized this one was a cover of the famous song (for everybody but not for me ) “Crying” by Roy Orbison.
Of all the covers I found, the acapella spanish version of Rebekah del Río is the best without a doubt.
Una amiga me dijo que le consiguiera la canción Llorando que salía en Mulholland Drive cantada en el Club Silencio… en fin que mientras revisaba fue que salí debajo la roca donde había estado todo este tiempo sin saber que en realidad era un cover de la “famosa” canción (para el mundo entero menos para mi ) de Roy Orbison.
De todas las versiones que se pueden conseguir, sin duda la versión en español acapella de Rebekah del Río se las lleva a todas por delante, eso si es transmitir emociones.

Just two things: Life on Mars has an audio problem (I tried several versions and I couldn’t find a clear one), John Lennon’s cover is cut at the end (once again, I tried several versions and couldn’t find a perfect one)

Sólo 2 cosas debo mencionar: Tanto Life on Mars como la de John Lennon tienen unos problemas de audio. Intenté bajar varias versiones pero no encontré ninguna que estuviese 100% limpia. (si consiguen, avísenme, gracias)

I like Björk, but between the original and the cover there’s not a big difference… when can you consider a song as a real cover?
