This post was “inspired” when I was watching trailers of Julie Taymor’s Beatles musical: Across The Universe. At first it looks nice but is it good? Rotten Tomatoes rated it 52% but imdb 7.9…. anyway, I want to see that movie, no matter if it’s only “random Beatles songs on video”.

So, “wikipeding” there’s a bunch of covers of the song and I found them very very fast.

Este post está “inspirado” al ver los trailers del musical de los Beatles “Across the universe” dirigido por Julie Taymor. Como que se ve interesante la película, pero será buena???

Veo opiniones muy disparejas y siguiendo a los “críticos” Rotten Tomatoes le dio un 52% pero imdb 7.9…. bueno, de todas formas debo verla.

Al wikipediar al canción hay una gran cantidad de covers, lo bueno es que fue realmente fácil conseguir este compilado que les coloco.

According to wikipedia: Cortez The Killer is a Neil Young’s song from the album Zuma of 1975, this song is ranked number 321 on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 Greatest songs of all time.

It’s inspired by Hernán Cortés who conquered Mexico; in the song there are historical references to Aztecs and general México conquest.

I found 2 covers of this great song, my favorite Built To Spill (20 mins). There are more covers, even Pearl Jam made one but the quality is poor.

De acuerdo a la wikipedia, Cortez The Killer es original de Neil Young, forma parte del álbum Zuma de 1975 y es la canción número 321 en la lista de las 500 grandes canciones de todos los tiempos de la Rolling Stone, inspirada en el conquistador Hernán Cortés y haciendo referencia históricas de la conquista a México.

Encontré 2 covers de esta gran canción, mi favorita la de Built To Spill, que llega a los 20 min de duración. Existen muchos más, incluso una de Pearl Jam, pero su calidad es muy pobre.
