This is not a new band but it’s my actual obsession, this quintet is the representation of mexican post-rock. Austin TV embodies the current indie music scene in México, influenced by groups such as Mogwai, Explosion In The Sky, Sigur Ros, Minus The Bear among others.
Being totally instrumental, and experimenting with quiet and loudly atmospheres (sometimes a little bit hardcore), Austin TV keeps an universal musical proposal of great quality (in fact they have played at SXSW and Coachella this year) with an interesting conceptual performance: they all use costumes (they are Leaf Men), masks, etc.
For example: in their last album “Fontana Bella (2007)” the booklet is a diary of an old man named Mario Lupo which live in the forest, and in some way to make you part of the whole “mythology” this character has his own myspace profile.
Well, to finish, the only thing I have to say is that you really have to check this band, they are really worth it.

Si bien no es una banda nueva se ha convertido en mi actual obsesión, este quinteto es la representación del post-rock mexicano. Con una fuerte influencia en grupos como Mogwai, Explosion In The Sky, Sigur Ros, Minus The Bear entre otros, Austin TV actualmente vienen siendo una de las abanderadas de la escena independiente de México.
Siendo totalmente instrumentales y experimentando entre atmósferas tranquilas para luego pasar a grandes descargas (llegando en algunos momentos al hard rock), Austin TV mantiene una propuesta de gran calidad, totalmente exportable (ya han participado en SXSW y Coachella) y acompañado de una puesta visual conceptual muy llamativa: máscaras, hombres hojas, disfraces, etc.
Por ejemplo: su último disco Fontana Bella (2006) incorpora un diario ficticio de un señor llamado Mario Lupo que vive en el bosque y para involucrarte más en esta mitología el personaje tiene su perfil en myspace.
En fin, no le pierdan la pista a estos muchachos!!!…. y con esto empiezo dar mi aporte a una serie de posts para indexar en hypem y elbo.ws música latinoamericana
