El primer concierto de los Smashing Pumpkins desde el año 2000 fue hoy 22 de Mayo en Paris, recién terminaron de tocar y ya empezaron a salir videos de la presentación en youtube.
A continuación una nueva canción de Zeitgeist llamada “God & Country”, esta vez es una balada, no suena mal pero realmente se podrá apreciar en la versión en estudio, sin embargo no está “tan pésimo” el video tomado directo del concierto.
Sigo teniendo FE.

The first Smashing Pumpkins’ concert since 2000 was today May 22 in Paris. They’ve just finished to play and immediately you can watch at youtube the first video of the performance.
Here’s a new song called “God & Country”, this is a slow one, is not bad, but to really appreciate it we have to wait until a better version or the studio one.
I have FAITH.

Battles – Mirrored (2007)

Si he de decir qué ha sido lo más novedoso en lo que va del año, definitivamente Battles se lleva esa distinción. Hace como un mes lanzaron el video Atlas de este su debut Mirrored y causó furor con el baile, la batería, las voces. Finalmente hoy sale a las tiendas y he aquí la lista de pensamientos mientras lo escuchaba:
- Ok, esto es lo que llaman Math Rock, gracias a dios no lo llamaron IDM.
- En general Mirrored es una mezcla de: Animal Collective, sonidos experimentales electrónicos, Marilyn Manson y Las Ardillitas.
- Atlas: Aquí es donde Marilyn Manson goes Las Ardillitas.
- Video de Atlas: Mejor video en lo que va del año, junto con D.A.N.C.E de Justice, si no lo han visto… Qué esperan?
- Ok, el cantante según NO es el hermano de Tony Braxton… pero fue gracioso el comentario mientras duró.
- Race In: Silbidos goes electrónica.
- Ddiamondd: Animal Collective goes electrónica + Silbidos + Aplausos
- Rainbow: La Cucaracha goes Math Rock
- Leyendecker: uuuu uUu UUUU UUUU es lo que me quedó luego de esucharla.
- Race Out: La batería!!!! La batería!!!!
- Obviamente luego de escuchar el álbum uno va a los famosos EP’s…. En verdad, no me gustaron son muy experimentales y sin coherencia para mi… en cambio Mirrored tiene estructura.
- Dirán uds. Cuál es fin de todas estas frases dispersas… bueno, así es Mirrored un compendio de sonidos que no tiene sentido alguno pero que a la final no te deja indiferente… esta vez si aplaudo el 9.1 en Pitchfork.

If I have to say what’s the most innovate work so far, definitely Battles. A month ago they released their first video for the song Atlas and it was shocking: the dance, the drums, THE VOICES!!!. So, now the album is out and this is my list of thoughts:
- Ok, this is Math Rock, thank God they don’t call it IDM 
- Overall: Mirrored is a mixed of: Animal Collective, electronic sounds, Marilyn Manson and The Chipmunks.
- Atlas: This is where Marilyn Manson goes The Chipmunks.
- Atlas Video: Best video of the year so far… besides D.A.N.C.E of Justice.
- Ok, the singer is not Tony Braxton’s brother, but it was funny the comment.
- Race In: Whistling goes electronic.
- Ddiamondd: Animal Collective goes electronic + whistling + applauses
- Rainbow: La Cucaracha goes Math Rock
- Leyendecker: uuuu uUu UUUU UUUU is what I’m singing after this song.
- Race Out: Drums!!!!! Drums!!!!
- Obviously I had to listen the famous EP’s… I didn’t like them, IMHO they are very experimental and don’t have cohesion. Mirrored does.
- Ok, what was the reason of all these nonsense sentences… well; those sentences were just like Mirrored, without any logic but just freaking great. Pitchfork gave it: 9.1

Wilco – Sky Blue Sky (2007)

Desde que salió el stream del álbum, hemos tenido tiempo suficiente para digerirlo, he aquí ciertas ideas luego de escucharlo (ojo, esto no es un review):
- Para mi sorpresa fue increíblemente criticado catalogándolo de aburrido, punto bajo en su carrera, etc….. para mi es todo lo contrario.
- Sky Blue Sky es lo que llamo un disco “agradable”, de esos que te dejan con una sensación de “estar en casa”.
- Su fuerte en mi opinión es que es un álbum libre de pretensiones, y quizás por ello es que pueda llegar a ser olvidado fácilmente.
- Se caracteriza por su homogeneidad, con toques de blues y country, y sin cambios ni riesgos que supongo es lo que los fanáticos esperaban.
- Either Way es un buen ejemplo de lo que representa todo el disco, buena elección para iniciar el álbum.
- Impossible Germany, la guitarra habla por si sola.
- Hate It Here es ahora en adelante mi canción favorita de Wilco después de “At Least That’s What You Said”. Esta canción es la que seleccionaría para quien no conozca de Wilco y se enganche con el disco.
- Walking, Shake It Off, What a Light: En serio.. cómo puede no gustar este disco????
- On And On: Todo buen comienzo le llega su buen final.. perfecta, sobria y elegante elección.
Sky Blue Sky junto con The Reminder y Neon Bible totalmente están en alta rotación…. y por ahí viene Battles
Rating: Evitando hacer comparaciones con la discografía anterior… le doy 9/10

I had so much time to hear this album thanks to the stream feed at the Wilco website, here there are some thoughts about it:
- To my surprise, Sky Blue Sky was harshly criticized, c’mon 5.2 on Pitchfork c’mon, for me is the opposite, I enjoyed it.
- Sky Blue Sky is what I call a “pleasant” album, this is one of those cd’s that left you with a nice sensation… this album: “feels like home”
- Its strength is that is not pretentious, and maybe for that reason this album would be dismissed, there aren’t changes or risks taken on the songs, I don’t know, probably that’s what people was expecting.
- Either Way is an excellent example of the entire album, is a good election for a beginning.
- Impossible Germany: the guitar solo speaks by itself.
- Hate It Here is now my favorite Wilco song besides “At Least That’s What You Said”. This is the song I’d recommend to everyone.
- Walking, Shake It Off, What a Light: Seriously, why can’t you love this album???
– On And On: Everything comes to an end, and this is the perfect song to close and say goodbye.
Sky Blue Sky, The Reminder and Neon Bible are in highly rotation this year …. and now comes Battles
Rating: Beyond comparison with prior discography… I gave it: 9/10

My first impression: I can’t deny I was/am a freaking Garbage fan… but as it’s said on the forums: the band didn’t age well…. the song is a grower, but definitely Shirley’s still amazing.
