Si sigues la onda musical de The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys y Bloc Party préstale atención a esta banda que viene de Ontario, Canadá; llamada Tokyo Police Club.

En el 2006 lanzaron un EP de 7 canciones “A Lesson In Crime” con la que empezaron hacer cierta bulla, es por ello que el 2007 se perfila como el año en que realmente darán de que hablar. En sus 16 minutos (la canción más larga no pasa los 3 minutos) te hacen pasar buen momento con sus coros pegajosos, los riff de guitarra y ciertas “intensidades” que no esperas, aunque a veces suenen tan predecibles y repetitivos.

Por ejemplo: “Cheer it on” fácilmente podría decir que es de los Arctic Monkeys, en cambio Citizens of Tomorrow que empieza a sonar algo como Interpol termina recordándome a Built To Spill…. blasfemia de mi parte??? Lo más seguro.

Es verdad que no veo que aporten algo nuevo.. pero es esa mezcla de mini canciones “radio hit” con algunos guiños a Broken Social Scene, Built to Spill y Sonic Youth en la que tengo fe que pueden salir con algo bien interesante si saben como “torearla”… a pulir el LP se ha dicho.

If you follow the musical style of The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party you have to check this band from Ontario, Canada; named Tokyo Police Club.

In 2006 with the release of a 7 songs EP “A Lesson In Crime” they started to make some kind of talking in the blogs and press, for that reason 2007 is the year of the band to be considered. In its 16 minutes (the longest song is 2:44 minutes) you’ll have a great moment listening the chorus and guitar riffs, though sometimes you feel it’s predictable and repetitive.

For example: “Cheer it on” easily can be an Arctic Monkeys song, but Citizens of Tomorrow starts as an Interpol track but at the end it reminds me Built To Spill…. blasphemy??? Probably.

It’s true I don’t see something NEW with this band, but my faith relies on its mini “radio hit” songs with the special winks to Broken Social Scene, Built to Spill and Sonic Youth. If they know how to make it unique it would be very interesting to listen the official LP.
